Manuel "Manolo" Blahnik Rodriguez CBE was born on the 28th of November in 1942. Manuel Blahnik is a Spanish fashion designer. He founded his high-end shoe brand and named it after himself - Manolo Blahnik.

First Boutique:
Born and raised in the Canary Islands (Spain), Blahnik graduated from the University of Geneva in 1965 and continued to study art in Paris. In 1968 he moved to London UK and worked at fashion boutique "Zapata". He also wrote articles for Vogue Italia. When he showed his portfolio of fashions and designs to Diana Vreeland, she immediately noticed his talent and told him to design only shoes. In 1972, Ossie Clark invited Manolo to create shoes for his fashion show. Soon after with a loan of £2,000, Blahnik bought Zapata from its original owner and opened his very first own boutique.
